LocusSwarm

An installation using the Microsoft Kinect. Instead of static pixels, the “picture elements” acted like simple agents, “hunting” and “eating” and new pixels that came up on the Kinect’s infrared-based camera. The video feed was show as a mirror. In practice the view resembled an impressionisitic motion sensor, “pixels” collecting around heat sources like people.

This dynamic often had an added side effect of having people hug in front of the screen – the shared silhouette collecting the flock of agents.
